What is IPL Hair removal?
IPL (Intense Pulsed light) is a non-invasive quick and easy way to permanently remove unwanted hair.
Unlike a traditional laser, that has a single wavelength (colour), an IPL has a spectrum of colour that interacts with multiple structures in the skin and multiple hair colours and thicknesses. The light is transferred to the hair root to permanently destroy it without burning the skin.
What is involved in the treatment?
For IPL to be effective, the hair root needs to be present to be able to absorb the energy from the light. The hair must be shaved (NOT
plucked or waxed) on the day of treatment. The treatment area is cleansed and a cooling gel is applied. The applicator head is applied systematically over the skin. Most people experience an instant warmth and depending on the area, may feel what has been described as an elastic band 'pinging' the skin.
The size of the applicator heads are comparatively large in size to traditional Lasers meaning that treatment sessions are relatively quick. For example underarm hair removal takes approximately 10 minutes and full legs 30-45 minutes
What can I expect after?
Post treatment, Aloe Vera gel (soothing and cooling) is applied to the area. You may experience some warmth and redness of the skin which should disperse within 24hrs.
How many treatments will I need?
In order to achieve the desired effects for permanent Hair Removal most people need, on average, 4-8 treatments.
*Unlike many Aesthetic practices, Bright Future Aesthetics only charge per individual session for IPL hair removal as some clients have seen the results they desire after just 2-3 treatments. We like to review the progress at each session so that you are not paying for unnecessary treatments.
